Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are in a close-door meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Twelve of the governors were physically present, while that of Zamfara, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, was represented by his deputy, Mahdi Aliyu Gusau.
Our correspondent reports that the PDP Governors’ Forum had on Sunday issued a statement scheduling a meeting to deliberate on issues of national security and the economy today.
The meeting is presently taking place at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA).
The forum was led by its chairman, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto) and vice, Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia).
Others present are: Samuel Ortom (Benue); Bala Mohammed (Bauchi); Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa); Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom) and Duoye Diri (Bayelsa).
Also in attendance are: Ben Ayade (Cross Rivers), Arthur Okowa (Delta), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Nyesom Wike (Rivers).
The governors arrived at the venue in a marked white Coaster bus at about 1:30pm and went into the closed-door meeting at about 1:45pm.
