Twelve passengers have been killed in an accident along the Ilorin/Ogbomosho road in Kwara State on Saturday.
The tragedy happened around when 7:06am when a driver of an 18-seater white coloured Toyota Hiace passenger bus heading to Lagos had a head-on collision with a white DAF Volvo trailer.
Six passengers, however, survived the accident with varying degrees of injuries.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kwara State, Jonathan Owoade, attributed the cause of the accident to speeding limit and route violations and loss of control.
Owoade said, “Twelve of the passengers were burnt beyond recognition.
“We are still at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) trying to sort out the process of depositing them at the morgue.”
Those injured where taken to hospital for treatment, he said.
