Bandits’ attack on Sakajiki community of Kaura Namoda local government area in Zamfara State has left 12 people dead, with a dozen shops and vehicles burnt down.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that the attack took place on Thursday night to Friday morning.
A local from Kaura Namoda who lives in Gusau, Kabir Abu, said two police patrol vans were burnt down while a section of the police outpost in the village was torched by the bandits.
“What our people who came to Gusau today told us is that the bandits came on motorcycles around 9pm Thursday night and operated till after Subhi prayers today. We counted 12 bodies, while several others have been missing since Thursday,” he said.
Another source said a total number of 19 shops were burnt down by the bandits while seven vehicles including those of the police men were also set ablaze.
Recall that a week ago, bandits also carried out a similar attack on Kuryar Madaro village of the same local government area.
SP Mohammed Shehu the police spokesman in the state confirmed the attack to 21 CENTURY CHRONICLE.
He however said that policemen stationed at the area and others on special duty confronted the bandits which led to the gunmen withdrawal from the community.
