Eleven political parties have challenged the outcome of the November 6 governorship election in Anambra State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Charles Soludo winner of the poll.
However, while some political parties are praying for the nullification of the entire exercise, others are seeking for the outcome to be overturned in their favour.
The political parties include the All Progressive Congress (APC); Action Democratic Party (ADP); United Patriots Party (UPP); Accord Party; Green Party and Action Peoples Party (APP) amongst others.
The parties and their candidates filed their positions at the Anambra governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Awka.
The tribunal secretary, Surajo Gusau said the political parties filed the petitions between Monday and Tuesday in order to beat the 21 days deadline stipulated by law.
The APC and it’s candidate, Mr Andy Uba are seeking for a declaration that the party won majority of the valid votes cast during the election, while praying that it’s candidate be declared winner of the poll.
Other prayers sought by contending parties include the nulification of the election on the ground that Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) used, malfunctioned and thereby disenfranchised majority of the registered voters.
A nullification of the poll on the ground of alleged irregularities, while the United Patriots is specifically seeking for the nullification of the election over the exclusion of the party’s name and logo from the ballot used in during the exercise.
