Five people have been killed in a gas explosion at a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) domestic retail centre located on Ojekunle Street in Ladipo Spare Parts Market, Mushin local government area of Lagos State.
The explosion occurred on Tuesday morning, but the cause is yet to be ascertained.
A spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the incident.
Farinloye said the bodies of four victims, comprising three men and one woman, have been recovered from the scene of the explosion.
He said a 10-year-old boy was rescued and taken to the hospital, adding that he died before getting to the medical centre.
Farinloye explained that the fire at the scene had already been put out while emergency workers were making efforts to recover more bodies.
