President Bola Tinubu on Thursday appointed Mr Zacch Adedeji as the acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). The following are 10 facts about the country’s new tax chief:
Mr Zacch Adelabu Adedeji is an astute accountant, and corporate tax and public finance development expert.
He hails from the Iwo-Ate area of Ogo-Oluwa local government of Oyo state.
He was born in Oyo State, Nigeria, on January 8, 1978.
Mr Adedeji is a first-class graduate in accounting from the Obafemi Awolowo University.
He has over 15 years experience in corporate accounting, public service administration and public service advisory.
He was a one-term Commissioner for Finance in Oyo State, between 2011 and 2015.
He led a team of less than 50 personnel to institute a Medium-Term Financial (MTF) strategy for the overall framework of Financial and Budgetary management of Oyo state.
He was Executive Secretary/CEO of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC).
Until his new appointment, he was Special Adviser to the President on Revenue.
He recently bagged a doctorate degree from the Obafemi Awolowo University.
